Négy magyar egyetem tématerület szerinti kockázatvizsgálata a Q-s szakterületi egyetemi rangsor szempontjából
Abstract :
A kutatócsoportok elengedhetetlenek az intézményi szintű tudományos teljesítmény fenntartásához és a nemzetközi versenyképesség javításához. A hazai intézmények számára prioritássá vált a nemzetközi egyetemi rangsorokon minél jobb helyen való szereplés, amihez az aktívan működő kutatócsoportok hozzájárulása jelentős. Az ezen csoportokat vezető mentorok ugyanakkor kitetté is teszik az intézményeket, amit a jelen tanulmányban két dimenzióban mérünk: egyrészt a mentor életkorával, másrészt az általa vezetett kutatási témához való hozzájárulásának mértékével. A tanulmányban a SciVal tématerületekre vonatkozó adatai mentén vizsgáljuk négy hazai egyetem (Debreceni Egyetem, Pécsi Tudományegyetem, Semmelweis Egyetem és Szegedi Tudományegyetem) kockázatát a QS szakterületi rangsorban való szereplés tekintetében. Eredményeink rávilágítanak arra, hogy a mentorok megtartása és a fiatal kutatói generáció mentorrá fejlődésének támogatása elengedhetetlen ahhoz, hogy ezek a hazai intézmények hosszabb távon fenntarthassák a rangsorban helyezéseiket. Az intézményi vezetés számára tehát elengedhetetlen a kutatási stratégia megalkotása során a mentorok és a kutatócsoportok sajátosságainak figyelembevétele, az általuk generált kitettség megfelelő eszközökkel való kezelése
Research teams are essential to maintain scientific performance at the institutional level and to improve international competitiveness. It is a priority for Hungarian institutions to achieve high ranks in international university rankings to which the contribution of active research groups is significant. The institutions are therefore exposed to the mentors leading these groups, which in this study is measured in two dimensions: on the one hand, by the age of the mentor, and on the other hand, by the degree of contribution to the research topic he or she leads. In this comparative study, we examine the vulnerability of four Hungarian universities (the University of Debrecen, the University of Pécs, Semmelweis University, and the University of Szeged) which are ranked in the QS subject ranking along with the data on SciVal topics. Our results highlight that retaining mentors and supporting the development of a young generation of researchers to become mentor is essential for these institutions to maintain their rankings in the longer term. It is therefore essential for institutional leadership to take into account the individual pecu- liarities of mentors and research teams when designing a research strategy, and to address the vulnerabilities they generate with appropriate tools.
