Pandémiás időszakban számítani kell az addig kezelt társadalmi devianciák átalakulására, átrendeződésére. A járványhelyzetre tekintettel a bűncselekmények természete és súlyozása változhat. A koronavírussal kapcsolatban számos hír terjedt és terjed a mai napig, amelyek nagy része esetében nehezen dönthető el a felröppenésükkor, hogy azok mekkora igazságtartalommal rendelkeznek, legyen szó akár valós, akár álhírről (hoax), az embereket rendkívüli módon felzaklathatja, ami közvetve a járvánnyal szembeni védekezést is akadályozhatja.
